Common Honda Brake Issues and Solutions
Honda’s braking system is typically dependable and efficient, but there may arise an occasion where issues develop. Some of the more common Honda brake issues include brake light illuminated troubles, squealing noises when you press the brakes, an emergency brake stuck in the engaged position, and frequent brake application necessitating frequent maintenance. If you experience a squealing noise every time you press your brakes, you should inspect your brake pads. Most often, worn brake pads will create a high-pitched squeal or a grinding noise if the pads are completely worn down. If the pads are too thin, you’ll want to replace them with a new set of brake pads as soon as possible.
Another issue that can occur on a Honda is an emergency brake that won’t release after being engaged. This happens when the brake pads and rotors become stuck together. To fix this, you’ll have to ensure the brake pads and rotors are properly lubricated so that they can move freely again. Once that is done, the emergency brake should be able to be released without any further issues.
Lastly, if you need to apply the brakes frequently, you should check to make sure your brake pads aren’t worn down. When your brake pads become worn, they no longer provide the same amount of friction and can become slippage on the rotors, giving less response when brakes are applied and necessitating more frequent maintenance.
